Japanese violinist Riyo Uemura is an award-winning soloist and chamber musician based in Berlin and Tokyo.

Riyo Uemura studied violin with Prof.Kenji Kobayashi, Prof.Igor Ozim,Prof. Pierre Amoyal and Prof.Manfred Scherzer.
She won many national and international competitions including
the 1st prize in the International Violin Competition"Michelangelo Abbado" (Italy, 1993), the 2nd prize in the International Violin Competition "Leopold Mozart", additionally got the "Mozart Prize" for the best interpretation of Mozart (Augsburg, 1995).
She is the recipient of the music awards of the Shin-nittetsu (New Japan Steel) Fresh Artist Award (2004).
She appeared in many concerts as a soloist with such orchestra as; Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, chamber orchestra "Praga Sinfonietta", Philharmonisches Staattsorchester Halle, Philharmonisches Orchester Augsburg, Klassische Philharmonie Bonn, NAGOYA Philharmonic Orchestra, Schleswig-Holsteinische Symphonie Orchestra, Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra, Camerata St. Petersburg, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Thuringen Philharmonie Gotha-Suhl, etc.
She has been invited to the festivals in Germany(Mozart Festival)and Russia (Festival "Musical Olympus"). Her CD was produced by Sony in 1995 (Schumann Violinkonzert).She has won great admiration for her second recording "Ravel Violin Sonatas-French Composers" on the CAMERATA TOKYO label ( CMCD-28183).At present she lives in Berlin and continue her career as a soloist in Europe and Tokyo.
